First off, thanks to the other review that said that they thought the book was for actual real movies. That review was what sold me. But really, this is a quick and fun read. I do really like weird horror movie guides so this was right up my alley and the fact that the movies were over the top made it better. My favorite part of the book were the interviews. I'm going to keep it short and sweet, if you like off the wall 80s horror, you'll enjoy this. And if you're like me, you start to wonder what each movie would be like as a short story....Product details

Great comedic look at a world of fictional movies with hysterical write ups of these movies from fictional critics in the same fictional world.
I loved this book!
The book is mainly composed of short synopses of radical '80s B-movies that you're never going to find or see...EVER! The book then dives into some interviews where it starts to build a world upon itself. I found myself laughing out loud several times.
Totally unique and original. I can only hope for a VOLUME 2 that can expand upon the awesomeness that is NEON TRASH.
I have to admit that the extent of my experience with B movies in the 80s was pretty much from Up All Night on USA (thanks Rhonda Shear). I think I only saw one Troma flick during that time, the first Toxie. Neon Trash made me feel like I missed out on some great stuff. We love to sit around watching really bad movies and most of the ones in this book would fit right in.
Even so many of the reviews were damn hilarious and I don't feel like I need to see them. This is a quick read, great for a lazy Sunday. The bonus bio story at the end was fun, too. The page count might be on the low side but the contents are great. Love the cover art, too.
Johnson's Neon Trash is a heck of a lot of fun and an incredibly original read. It's a book about forgotten B-movies from the 80s, only all the movies are fiction. Johnson creates a universe through fabricated B-movies that read like Troma films on steroids.
This book is incredibly short. It includes many reviews of invented B-movies, interviews with some of the actors / directors who star in these B-movies and are referenced in the reviews. And ends with some deleted scenes from the film Neon Meltoids.
Biggest complaint here is some of the reviews became redundant. I actually think the book would have benefitted from being shorter and cutting a number of reviews.
But overall, Neon Trash is wildly inventive, hilarious, and a whole lot of fun!
More like a pamphlet. This looks like something you get for free in the mail. Shoddy publication
what a waste of time read, not one movie in this book I have ever heard of, no stills of any of these movies to be found anywhere, and the interviews with the "stars" of these movies was pointless reading, I can believe someone published this mess of a book, don't waste your money.
I bought this thinking it was real reviews, when I figured out it's comedy, I liked it even better. Neat little small press oddity and lol funny.
